Because all orders are sent insured post we cannot ship to a P.O. Box. All shipments need to be signed for upon delivery and we therefore need to ship to an address where somebody is available for signature. A business address is ideal for this purpose.
According to HMRC's regulations we will ask you for certified and recent proof of address and certified proof of identity when you make gold purchases worth 5,000 GBP in a single transaction or worth 10,000 GBP in several transaction in the course of 12 months. We will not proactively send these documents to HMRC but keep them on file together with your order details and invoice in case HMRC wishes to check.
EXTRACT TAKEN FROM THE PERTH MINT E-NEWSLETTER (March 2013)
We're often asked why a bullion coin has a face value so much lower than the intrinsic value of the gold, silver or platinum from which it's made. Having an official face value is part of what gives coined bullion its legal tender status. Although the face value represents the price for which the Reserve Bank of Australia would redeem an Australia bullion coin, in reality, it's nothing more than a nominal figure advised by Federal Treasury.
Take our 1oz Gold Kangaroo coin, for example, which has a face value of $100. That's a ridiculously low figure compared to the value of its actual gold content, which is tied to the 'spot' market. So while it is important for investors to ensure their bullion coins do have an official face value, they need take little notice of it thereafter.
By selling your bullion coins to The Perth Mint or a reputable coin dealer, you'll receive much more - a fair price close to the metal's prevailing spot rate. And if it's highly sought-after, the coin could have some numismatic value, meaning you may be able to find someone willing to pay a premium!
