Product Description

Compass 2017 2oz Silver Antiqued Coin

A compass is an instrument used for navigation and orientation.  Magnetic compasses allow people to find their position relative to the Earth’s magnetic field.  The magnetised needle of the compass indicates direction based on the four cardinal points – north, south , east & west.

Specification

  • Metal: 999 Fine Silver
  • Finish: Antiqued
  • Diameter: 40.5mm
  • Mintage: 2500 Worldwide
  • Weight: 2 Troy oz

Reverse

The reverse of this antiqued silver coin features an interpretation of an ancient world map with mythical sea creatures included in the design as well as The Perth Mint’s traditional ‘P’ mintmark. A golden coloured compass with a beautifully engraved rim is set into the middle of the coin. The compass moves but is only decorative and not reliable for use.

Obverse

The coin is issued as legal tender under the authority of the Government of Tuvalu and features the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the monetary denomination, and the 2017 year-date on the coin’s obverse. The obverse also includes a decorative border that circles the back of the compass, which features a star pattern.

Packaging

Each coin is housed in a classic Perth Mint display case. It is presented in an illustrated shipper and accompanied by a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.

Get this coin ! Good detail – feels heavy and substantial in the hand. The center compass – though stated as non functional – does work in part. The box itself is attractive and the rest just keeps on impressing. This is a keeper.

Minted-UK has yet to disappoint (doubt they ever will).
