Royal Mint 2017 Nations of the Crown 2017 UK £1 Platinum Proof Coin
Better by Design
This is the first major change to the £1 coin specification since it entered circulation, replacing the £1 note in 1983. The new coin is 12-sided and has a bimetallic composition and appearance. Alongside its other security features, these help combat the problem of sophisticated counterfeiting that the old ‘round pound’ had become vulnerable to. 15-year-old David Pearce’s fresh interpretation of traditional floral emblems was chosen to symbolise the modern United Kingdom on the reverse of this state-of-the-art coin.
This coin is struck in 999.5 Platinum & enhanced with fine gold and finished to Proof standard.
