To mark the 200th Anniversary of the death of Napoléon on St Helena, we are delighted to offer the 2021 Napoleon’s Angel Silver Proof Coin. The design is inspired by the Napoléon Death Medal, which featured an angel draped over the Emperor’s tomb, maybe in protection, perhaps in sorrow. Both the angel and tomb are reinterpreted on this 2021 coin design which features a more peaceful angel standing beside Napoléon’s resting place. The angel holds a watchful gaze, and a protective hand, over Napoléon’s gravestone, which is inscribed with his monogram surrounded by a classical laurel wreath. The East India Company mint mark sits at the base of the coin, flanked by two further sprigs of laurel.
