Description
2018 SCOPS OWL: THE WONDER OF OWLS
Owls have always been an object of fascination and across different cultures have been portrayed as omens of death, wisdom, good fortune, witchcraft & magic. Paying homage with this new collection of stylised owls, the Mint of Norway begins the series with the Scops Owl.
Scops owls hunt from perches in semi-open landscapes. They prefer areas which contain old trees with hollows as these are home to their prey which includes insects, reptiles, small mammals such as bats and mice and other small birds. Scops owls have a good sense of hearing which helps them locate their prey in any habitat. They also possess well developed raptorial claws and a curved bill, both of which are used for tearing their prey to small pieces.
Reverse face
The reverse shows a stylised representation of the Scops Owl, typical of Scandinavian folk art
Obverse face
Issued as legal tender under the authority of Tokelau the obverse shows an effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The monetary denomination, and silver content are shown on the coin’s obverse.

The coin is finished to proof standard and is accompanied by a numbered certificate of authenticity. Your coin is presented in a Mint of Norway clamshell case.
