Description

THE DANCER – GUSTAV KLIMT 2021 Cameroon 17.5g silver proof

The latest release in the “Gustav Klimt” series, is dedicated to the Dancer. The coin has a beautiful Amber insert, has coloration on the image of this famous painting, and is surrounded by intricate Art Nouveau  background.

‘The Dancer’ was produced by Klimt between 1917-1918 and features a woman wearing a floral dress depicted against an embellished background imitating Japanese wood block printing and his own signature Art Nouveau style.
The Dancer was the first painting by Klimt to be exhibited in the United States, when it was first put on display in 1922, in the New York Showroom of Wiener Werksttte. It is believed that this work began as a posthumous portrait of Ria Munk, who had committed suicide over a failed love affair.
