The striking silhouette of the ‘Château de Chambord’ adorns the landscape of the Loire Valley in France in marvellous seclusion. Known as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1981, the castle is an architectural masterpiece and a popular destination for history buffs. Built in 1519 under the direction of architect Domenico da Cortona, it has developed over the centuries into an extravagant example of the opulence of the French Renaissance. The «Château de Chambord» boasts a rich history – beginning with the Italian-inspired vision of King Francis I, through the turbulent times of the French Revolution, to today’s cultural and touristic significance.
